About the event
Keep your spine feelin' fine! This two and a half hour backbend focused workshop will help to guide you towards keeping your spine feeling strong, healthy and mobile.Â
What will we be doing?
We will begin with some theory, to understand how the spine moves, and why spinal mobility is so important for healthy and functional movement and posture.Â
We'll then get practical with to some drills to get your spine moving safely and effectively, a yoga flow to get your body moving fluidly, and explore Chakrasana (Wheel Pose)* with some hands-on assists before ending with some restorative postures to give the neck and back some love.Â
You will learn:
- Anatomy of the spine
- Benefits and precautions of practicing backbends
- Exercises to strengthen and mobilise the spine
- How to safely practice and improve backbending postures
- Restorative postures to release and relieve tension in the neck and back
Timetabled classes for the month of September will continue to focus on backbends, so that you can continue to deepen your practice.Â
*We will be working towards Wheel pose (as pictured), but there's no need to be able to get into the "full" expression of this pose. I will guide you to find adaptations that work for your abilities, so all levels are welcome to attend. There will be useful takeaways for everyone, whether you improve your Cat and Cow, or master a one-legged Wheel! However, please ensure to let me know at the time of booking, if you have any complications or back complaints so that I can prepare suitably.Â
